So far ;)

Definitely a pretty good gig getting to work on these beasts.

That’s awesome. I love the stuff there. I also like the Viper. Are the stickers on the side the tracks that they set records on?

Yep! The stickers are all the tracks the production car currently has records on. I’m pretty sure all of those stickers are American tracks. I remember when it beat the Porsche 918 by 2(!!!!!!) seconds at Laguna Seca... amazing.

Haha the only other one I know is Willow Springs from racing games.

Other than that I don't know enough about racing.

Oxygen tank for the driver when racing pikes peak?

That’s what our guess was too. If you aren’t used to it I’m sure driving hard above tree-line could lead to issues.

I try to keep up with racing, but it’s not easy to follow in the U.S.A...

I don’t like the commercials or the announcers some usually have.

I drive past the EarthRoamer shop every day on my commute to work.

Haha its gonna need it. The head guy was talking about he didn’t need a stinking turbo because all the power it has. I wanted to inform him of the massive power losses at that altitude...

there is a reason turbo cars do better or electric haha

Yes, many of the locals use them as well. Even more important for those of us coming from Sea Level altitudes.

We actually didn’t need any more power. More radiator and cooling would have been helpful, however.

Set the qualifying record and then started overheating with 4 minutes left in the run. Dropped a cylinder with 2 1/2 minutes left and finished 2nd to the NSX. Lost by 11 ish seconds. Dropped 25+ seconds with the issues.

Oh wow that’s terrible news. I didn’t think anything that dramatic happened with you already beating the other ACR in your class.

Any reason why the radiator wasn’t doing its job? Just sounds odd that it couldn’t handle such a short (relatively) race.

Radiator was doing its job, simply not enough air density to maximize efficiency. In the TA2 class you can’t change the cooling system, has to be OEM. All of the SRT systems are tested at Pikes Peak, but not under full throttle conditions. It just exposed a limitation of the stock equipment, that’s all.

Turns out the NSX was overheating as well, but they ran after us. So, they could conserve the car knowing the time they had to beat.

We learned, we’ll be back.

FYI... that shop down at the end of your building runs all the press fleet cars for FCA. They allowed us to store the car there, that’s how we ended up by Earth Roamer.

Well it sounds like you guys got some good information. I may have to come cheer you guys on next year then. I have a buddy who works on the NSX program and he was there to cheer it on.

Will SRT still be supporting you guys? I’m already heartbroken they stopped the Dodge - GTSR program and that the Viper is dying next year...

And yeah we figured you guys were here with the press fleet company. Any odd cars that show up around work, we can usually get the scoop from the guys at Redline.

Yes, SRT will continue involvement as far as we k ow at this point. We start on next year’s plans in a couple weeks. Lot’s of stuff to sort out.
